Iggy pop is such a bad ass. There’s an interview I watched where his manager talked about having to bail him out of jail. The manager shows up and Iggy is drunk, disorderly, and wearing a dress. His manager asked “Ig, why are you wearing a womans dress?” and Iggy replied “I beg to differ, this is a mans dress.”

Not only is this an eloquent and concise article about Adam Yauch and the Beastie Boys’ evolution within the framework of feminism, two paragraphs also stuck out to me as acutely accurate for trans*people; you can replace “women” with “transgender people” (and “men” with “cisgender people”) in these paragraphs and they also feel horribly, heart-wrenchingly true:

Once you’ve realized that you’re living in a world that believes women are “less than” in every imaginable way, one of the things that can be most frustrating is that very few men get it. You want the people in your life, the men you care about, to understand the awful toll it can take on you. Operating in a world that sees you as less than fully human can be soul crushing—but it’s also incredibly lonely.

When you speak up about any sense of unfairness or injustice, you’re told that you’re overreacting, you’re too angry, too silly—shut up already. It takes a tremendous amount of fortitude to be able to live in this world as a woman, let alone a woman who wants things to change.

marie’s stuff always leaves me reeling, and this is no exception. gorgeous. i love how she places figures in space, how it’s like a single frame from a very dynamic film sequence.

It doesn’t happen in the dark, or the rain, or the strobe flash of a police car’s light streaking over wet pavement. It doesn’t happen breathless or broken, bruised or bleeding. It doesn’t happen in a fever or a fury; it doesn’t happen in fear or even in fierce relief.

It happens in broad daylight, on a busy street. Sherlock stops so abruptly that John goes on another two or three quick strides before he realizes that he’s alone. He stops, turns, stares back at Sherlock quizzically.

“John, I - ” Sherlock says sharply.

John’s frown melts away, the lines of his face softening into a slight, sure smile.

“You can’t know that,” Sherlock says, his hands clenching at his sides.

John’s smile just widens. Sherlock huffs his breath out impatiently, and stalks the few yards that separate them. He pushes right into John’s space and hooks a hand around his nape to tug him in. John yields, his eyes falling closed. At the first touch of lips to warm soft lips John pushes up into the contact, his eyes still closed and the tip of his nose pressing into Sherlock’s cheek. For a moment Sherlock stares and stares, as if the too close curve of John’s quivering eyelid was a mystery worth solving, and then his eyes flicker closed as well.

Aw damn… Right on the 700th notes, I get a ficlet. Let me love you, this is gorgeous. ;__;

Using this post to thank all the kind words and comments and asks from everyone. I’m just mighty chuffed that you like it, seriously, I can’t…

For those asking, painted on photoshop, with the wacom, I had a partial photo ref to look at for John but went freestyle on Sherlock. Background is a trick, big brush of colors inspired by a photo of London, then directionnal blur on the whole thing :D

About tutorials, God, I’m crap at this, I’ll try to get something together or livestream soon, I promise.
